Join Alternative Strategies at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot’s Bootcamp Challenge
On September 26th the Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD) will continue an eight-year tradition that will kick off San Diego Fleet Week. The MCRD San Diego Bootcamp Challenge is a three-mile obstacle run that will serve as an open house to the community.
The fun and furious course features obstacles used only by Marine Recruits at MCRD and the Bootcamp Challenge is the only time that the course is open to the public. Runners are “encouraged” by Marine drill instructors (D.I.) as they battle the three miles of paved roads and hard-packed dirt, all while taking on more than 50 obstacles. Runners will hurdle hay stacks, crawl through tunnels, maneuver fox holes, and navigate trenches, while stopping at D.I. manned push-up stations. These “recruits for a day” can participate as individuals or as three or five-person teams where all team members must cross the finish line together. Alternative Strategies will have its own five-person team participating at the event.
The MCRD San Diego Bootcamp Challenge concludes with an entertaining post-race party with vendor booths, activities, music, food, and refreshments. Awards will be given to the top three finishers in each category and age group and an official race T-shirt will be given to all entrants.
The race starts at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 26th; online registration is available now at www.bootcampchallenge.com.
Alternative Strategies has been hired to conduct the public relations for the Bootcamp Challenge on behalf of MCRD.
