No child should go without a bedtime story because their parents, grandparents or caregivers are separated from them by distance, deployment, death, divorce or even death.
Thank goodness for Cherished Voices, a service that allows people to record bedtime stories for the cherished children in their lives from wherever there is a phone.
It's an idea that was born of necessity AND tragedy.
When Heather Hultgren had her first child in 2001, it was important that her son get to know the people he would soon cherish... his grandparents.
This wasn’t easy as Heather and her husband lived in southern California and his parents lived far away in Minnesota. Regular phone calls helped remind her kids of their grandparents’ voices, but Heather wanted something more, something that would allow the communication to continue between the calls.
Sadly, while Heather’s father-in-law did choose a book to read, he died before he got a chance to record it. So Hultgren created Cherished Voices in order to prevent that tragedy from ever happening to anyone else.
Thanks to Hultgren, you can still be close to the children you love and provide them with the comfort of your voice no matter how far away you might be.
