Holiday Marketing 101

During the holiday season there are plenty of opportunities to draw new customers to your business.  All it takes is a marketing plan which can be successfully implemented with a bit of careful planning. There’s nothing worse than having to scramble to send out marketing materials at the last minute.

When putting your marketing plans together you need to consider two things: your unique business and your customer demographic. If you keep these things in mind while putting your holiday marketing ideas together, you will set up your business for a more profitable holiday season.

With budgets far tighter and smaller than ever before, businesses need to come up with more creative and cost-efficient ways to promote their company or sell their product.

It’s always a great idea to send out more coupons – but don’t let your coupons get lost in the shuffle. Get creative and make them visually appealing while offering a deal that the customers can’t refuse.

Use your customer database to reward your current and past customers. The coupon could be for a discount on a service or product or it could be a unique perk offered only to “VIP” customers.

For example, a restaurant that is changing their menu for the season could host a small after hours customer appreciation tasting event to let their most valuable customers give feedback on the new dishes.

Also, highlighting gifts or services suitable for all budgets is another surefire way to get people walking through your doors.  Times are tough for almost everyone and focusing on a variety of price points will keep your company top-of-mind when consumers are thinking about all of the gifts they need to purchase.

If your business doesn’t provide wide variety of price points, try breaking down your services so customers can pick and choose services at a smaller price rather than one combined high-priced package.

Last but not least, be sure to run your promotions for the entire holiday season – through the middle of January. This will build continued traffic and continued success for you and your customers.

Marketing during the holidays isn’t hard; it just takes a bit of creativity and planning on your part.

Best of luck planning for the holidays…
